La ISO 39001: 2012 - Road Safety Management System (RTS) - defines the requirements of a Road Safety Management System aimed at allowing each Organization, which in some way interacts with the road system, to reduce deaths and serious injuries deriving from road collisions, managing by keeping under control the variables that are under your own influence. Furthermore, it defines what are the necessary and useful elements for a correct management of good practices aimed at road safety with specific attention to the actions taken and the results expected and achieved with a view to improving prevention.
The Road Safety Management System ISO 39001 may be integrated or made compatible with all other Management Systems such as ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001. Furthermore, the system can be adapted with the schemes associated with organizational models aimed at protecting and strengthening Administrative Responsibility and corporate social responsibility (D.Lgs 231 / 2001, Social Responsibility certification SA 8000, etc.)
The Certification service against the Standard ISO 39001, consists in evaluating the dynamics of the Organization's processes with respect to the transport system and road safety, verifying the acceptability of exposure to risk and analyzing the actions taken in order to reduce both the probability of incurring a road accident and the severity of the same.
Organizations carrying out activities that present risks from the point of view of road safety should systematically identify, evaluate and consider the relevant factors that may influence the effectiveness of their processes, activities and services and their image in order to plan and improve its organization and activities with a view to road safety management.
